Op-Ed for American Journal of Nursing
My Op-Ed about Utah’s H.B. 261, which bans DEI initiatives in higher education, threatening nursing education and patient care. DEI fosters culturally competent nurses, improves outcomes, and supports underrepresented students. Removing it risks worsening shortages and hindering accreditation. Click to learn why this matters and how nurses can fight back. #DEI #Nursing #HealthEquity
Letter to the editor - L.A. Times (when it was good, before Henry Rollins left)
My feelings during the height of the pandemic about the dilemma of helping those who hurt others.
Broadcasting Bad Health - a policy paper I wrote when I was a fetus and a food activist starving in London
After working for the International Obesity Task Force - doing everything from booking hotel rooms for my villain of a boss (I should write a story about that), getting coffee for everyone, or doing research (gasp!), I worked at the Food Commission with the Brilliant - no really, BRILLIANT, Tim Lobstien and Tim Lang (a man who has more good ideas than you will have in a lifetime, before you have had your morning coffee!) and wrote this report.
And truly - I worship Tim Lang - check out his books: Feeding Britain, Food Policy, The New Protectionism, and my favorite The Atlas of FOOD. No single person has been more influential on the way I see the world, the way I write and use my voice to make change, and the way I frame questions about how policy can be used to help or hurt people.
